Why Do I Need SEO?

Search Engine Optimization is critical for every website because Google has over 1 billion searches per day, and that is just one search engine. If you dont have the proper information for search engines hidden in your site, people will only be able to find your site from direct links. It is estimated that good SEO and site maintenance can increase your sites reach by almost 20%! This boost in site views can be directly correlated to your page ranking in search engines.

What is SEO?

SEO is a combination of activities that help search engines find and trust you, organize the information you’re publishing, and present it to users searching for it. There are several different components that work together to help move your site up in rankings, and show that your page is relevant to the search parameters that a user typed into their search. These three on-page items below are the biggest components of your overall SEO rating that will help boost your site the most, but there are many more factors to consider.

Meta Tags

These tags are in your header of your website that directly display your website name, description, and the main keywordsin the Search Engine's results. As your site contines to be ranked higher on the search results list, these are critical because they also are the core of the coveted site-links that a search engine displays for their top ranking.

There are three types of keywords: main, short-tail, and long-tail. You want to use your short-tail keywords in your header tags to make sure they match you main keywords in your meta tags. This boosts your sites trustworthiness. Mismatching keywords will actually down-rank you on search results. Keywords are ranked from the top of the page down, and then by on page frequency. Take some time to think about what you want people to see displayed about you first because these keywords will drive that appearance.

Image Optimization

This is probably one of the least known, and most effective ways to boost your site ranking. the "alt-text" lets you put in long tail keyword chains for more search visibility inside your website without having to waste page space with search engine text. A full page background image can help the meta tag and h1 header tage that sits over it with multiple secondary kewords, and with proper HTML placement these are some of the first keywords hit on your page.

What is Off-Page SEO?

Off-page SEO is refers to all of the activities that you and others do away from your website to raise the ranking of a page with search engines. One of the most powerful off-page SEO factors is backlinking, or how many other ways can people find your site outside of the search they jsut entered. The second most common off-page SEO activity is social media posts and tags. These create deep links to specific pages on your site and can connect people to your site without having to use any direct search methods.
